selling a film for video distribution

Planning on making a movie and making some bucks. I know of this working class guy from Wales who went out and made a low budget horror movie in Cardiff. His intention was to sell it on the straight-to-video market. He sure made a profit, more than ?250,000 and sold all over the world. He did it again and again until he now has his own company.

Sounds like the way to go to me. Anyone know how to go about getting your movie sold to a video sales company?

My bet would be to shoot your film first, get it finished, get it hyped in your local news, then see if you can get a label like Tartan interested. Or start your own label and sell mail order.
